Hi guys,
I sorted the cd changer problem, now the only thing left to do is my exhaust manifold. it's a 2.0 16v auto, and autodata says they are prone for warping? it is definately blowing (sounds tappy like a lifter but it is definately the fannymould)
would this be why I'm only getting 21.4mpg?? or are they all like that?
I bought it because my 4x4 (lada niva with a 2.9v6 ford engine and auto box :y ) was too thirsty at 18mpg....
-
They have been known to break/crack - never seen a warped one but that's not to say it doesn't happen.
Before checking that though - make sure number 1 stud hasn't broken - that's the most common cause...
-
Cheers mate will have a look in a minute :)
-
You'll probably need to take the heatshield off.
Where are you based?
-
took the heat shield off can see the crack. All studs are fine from what I can see. probably a different story when I try un screwing them.... >:(
Based in telford mate :)
-
Give the studs a darn good soak in plusgas before removing..!
-
already done mate. Plan on taking it off in the morning and migging up the crack until I can find a replacement... and then probably keep the replacement in a box until it starts blowing again, which it inevitably will...
Thanks for the help so far. any ideas if my mpg is normal? or should it be higher? I don't drive quickly (learned that lesson 3 years ago when I rolled a 406 and broke my back - the joys of being 19 ::) ) so would have thought I should be getting mid to high 20's?
-
Our manual 2.0 does about 30mpg average, mixed driving, and driven pretty gently.
If you do a fair amount of town driving, and with the autobox, your numbers wouldn't be too far off I'd guess. :'(
-
yeah fair bit of town driving. it's only 5 miles to where I work as well so i guess it's about right if yours is doing that.
ahh well... lpg i guess (got a single point kit in the garage I was going to fit to the lada)
Cheers

I got a 2.0.the exhaust gasket went on mine.Make sure you replace the gasket with the modified 3 piece metal type.As for Mpg i get on local runs as a taxi around 29-31 mpg.On a run to France full loaded with trailer I've seen 41 mpg
