What happens when you operate the adjustment control?

If you do it with the engine off then you should be able to hear the motors operating as well as seeing the beams move.

It the lights dont adjust then I think its an MOT failure.

The adjuster motors are independent of each other so unless you have only noticed the 2nd one fail then its possible that there may be another problem.

They do clog up if the lights are open to the elements, so suggest removing them and having a look, it will be obvious if they are gunged up and can be opened up easily.

Probably easist to remove the headlights unless you have hands the size of a 3 year old!

when i was driving i couldnt notice either of them moving?

is there a chance that a fuse has gone or something cos i would much prefer that to getting me hands dirty(i mean i am a sparky! lol) and be a much quicker fix :-?

Check fuse #22 & 31. Unlikely that both have gone though :-/

ok i didnt realise two fuses, but is it likely that the two motors have gone/gunked up at the same time? :-/

Not both at exactly the same time, but if one was seized then you would have had its poor output masked by the good one. When that stopped you get the problem.

These can seize up due to lack of use.

Probably worth investing an a Haynes manual as they contain the GM wiring diagrams for early and mini-facelift models.

Get one off ebay quick otherwise you will fall foul of the postal strike.

As long as the beams are not high, and off line then they may well pass the MOT

Do they have the adjusting knob under the lights  switch or have they had HID fitted.  Also  I believe there are some fragile arms inside the lights, these sometimes snap.
