Can somebody give me a relevant opinion on the cam cover gasket from the link below.

Looks like it for the x20xev engine only
-
imho - pile of poo!
avoid it.
Genuine is the way to go on this part :'( if you dont want to be redoing the job.
-
I would go for a genuine one JimBob but cannot find it on ebay anywhere :(
-
Well I'm a bit confused.
Is this the actuall part number for 2.2 petrol 90501944
-
least it is a very easy job on the 2.2 :y

that part number appears to fit a lot of cars according to epc including some 2.2 engines...
but as far as I can see, you want part 55558349
-
can you confirm your engine code?
that is for y22se or z22se
-
Yes I saw that part number in Tunnies' post but thought this is the same one.
Judging from the looks it should be the same.
i think my engine code is Y22XE but not 100% sure

I've bought from this seller in the past.next day delivery(if no post strike)Knows Vx like the back of your hand.Call them there nice people to deal with.
-
I guess they can be nice people to deal with Selsey.
But everyone recomends genuine gasket and looks like they don't have them, only replacements

True but everyone's on a different budget but for a few quid more i would buy genuine.
-
i guess on some parts for 2.2 especially genuine is a must.
I had two cam covers replaced in last couple of months and both of them seem not to be ok.
also had a new cam sensor fitted (aftermarket one) and the car would drive normally any more. Put the old original back in which is actually knackered and the car works fine 99% of the time.
Only ocassionally have to restart it when turned on while it is hot cause EML light comes on

I guess getting geniune parts is an issue for you? Are their any Opel / Saab dealers near you?
-
There are Opel dealers near me but trust me they are the real stealers!!!
When I wanted genuine cam sensor they wanted around 130 pounds for it!
So I really don't want to pay them twice or sometimes three times more than I can get from ebay
-
retail their prices are expensive, but trade access and its much cheaper ;)
Not sure if 'Trade Club' exsits in Europe? But you could try and blag your 'garage' needing trade parts.
-
No trade cards here Tunnie I believe.
I found out that cam sensor in UK for 65 pounds on ebay (regular price).
So no reason for it to cost 130 here, but as I said they're real stealers.
-
Even retail, the 4 pot cover seals are not expensive.
sub 20 quid.

Think i paid £17 :)
-
Why don't you order the parts from a dealer in England by credit card and ask them to post it to you.
-
Thought of that SelseyBill but don't think most of them will even bother with the postage for small amounts.
I hoped that will find some on ebay but no luck there.
Something will turn up eventually.
-
Ask a UK member with Paypal to organise it for you
-
If you get really stuck, order and pay for your bits at my local dealer and i will collect and post it to you.Small parts only cost a few pounds to send abroad.
-
Thank you SeleseyBill for that offer, will do that probably if I don't find any other solution
-
Send a PM to andyc on here... He's a top bloke and works at a staler not far from me. He's normally happy to do a good deal and post things :y :y
