Title: Cambelt replacement etc
Post by: Cookie Monster on 25 October 2009, 13:23:58
Hi all... I have to say i have had very few probs with my mig.. maybe i been lucky or maybe i bought a good one.. its a w reg and still got less than 70k on the clock genuine. But i have read on here and been a bit concerned about getting the cambelt done. I could take it to a local vx garage or other but i'm concerned that maybe they wont do the proper job with the tensioners etc (trying to sound like i know what i'm talking about). So, i was wondering if anyone on here not too far from me would either come to me and do a pucker job or me come to them, obviously for a reasonable charge  ;) Maybe i should be a bit more trusting of the local garages but i have read on here a few scary things and i dont wanna risk anything with what is the best car i have owned since me dad bought me my first car ... a moggy !  :)

Hey cookie, If you are at all mechanically minded then best bet is to buy the DVD from the OOF shop, and borrrow/buy a cam locking kit and do it yourself, that way your sure it is done properly.
I did mine myself but would not feel confident about doing it for someone else, as if it does go wrong it is mightily expensive.
You are not to far away from me and I would gladly lone you my cam locking kit. No cost just leave a returnable deposit.

Hi cookie monster you could try a couple of the guys on here mate, they do a first class job and charge a very small fee compared the the rip off garages i've delt with myself. Markey Mark for one and Marks DTM for another. Pm them and if you dont mind travelling to SLady bitshorpe or nottingham i.m sure they could fit you in. they do a proper job too

Trust me cookie you are about 35 miles away from me, but if Daz is coming down drop him a line because he's always looking for freshmeat ;D :y
