Title: MV6 alloys
Post by: ENFIELD_MV6 on 28 October 2009, 10:31:43
i have the standard 17" MV6 alloys (silver/graphite type) the thing is my spare is a 15" steel 2 things

1, is it normal to have a 15" steel spare ??

2, would it be possible if i got another alloy the same that it would fit in the wheel well.

I would try by jacking the car up and trying it physically but me and my miggy are 150 miles apart at the mo  :'( :'( :'(

15" spare is standard on all Omegas, don't think the 17" will fit in the well but I could be wrong

Yeah for sure 15" spare standard
I know the 17" mv6 alloy fits in the spare well of a saloon and i'm sure they must be the same to a estate.

Its not the diameter, the spare on the estate is in the floor with a hatch over the top, I think it might be a bit wide but as I say I could be wrong ;)

Just to confirm, i have a 5th alloy & it won't fit. The tyre is too wide for the well in the floor, i have a saloon btw. Thats in the garage & the original steel is in the boot

Rare as hens teeth in good nick. They seemed to suffer badly once the surface laquer had got damaged. Also not known for strength, seen that discussed on lots of topics before. So finding a true one will be a gamble, unless its cheap enough to chance.

I think they are 235s on the 17 inch wheels actually.

I had an MV6 from new, got thriugh 6 alloys in 3 years as a company car. Then bought it and put new facelift MV6 alloys - at the time they were less than half the price of the Irmscher ones.

As said pretty rare in good nick so might be an idea to get one as a spare in case you ever damage one :(.

  235s are normally fitted :y.

205 is max width that will fit (properly) in saloon. From memory, 195 on estate.

As you say 205 in a saloon, with this size the carpet wheel cover fits as it should.I got a 17" with 245 x 45 x17 in my saloon well but the carpet cover is a little too small to cover the tyre properly but wheel fits in there nice and tight

...and should the boot be full and it is a rainy day? Put it on the back seat with the passengers  ;D Lob it in a verge and come back later to collect  ::)

They didnt really think that one out really did they!

And as for the folks with 265 / 18's ... well...  ;D

I beleive that the 226 / 16's will fit in the saloon but the carpet thing does not really fit over it.
