Good job I wasn't going to Newent, the bloody meega wouldn't start on Sat morning. Called Green Flag, we both went through everything together, he tried an OBD II, wouldn't connect ! Three quarters full of fuel, the starter was turning over no probs there, so, battery in good order, no spark and no smell of fuel at the tail pipes. He locked the central locking and unlocked it about five times, then it bloody started as if it had never had an issue... it ran sweet too, no evidence of flooding at all. Immobiliser ?????
Any suggestions :question

do the paperclip test, bet you get code 19 crank sensor.
-
Yup, paperclip it :y

Yup, paperclip it :y
Yeh! Shall have to on the morrow... other than that, is there any particular sequence that will show up when cranking, i.e. the engine light does actually flicker slightly when cranking, is that an indication that the cs is signalling? the rev counter bounces slightly too :D
Was hoping to do Newent I owe a certain person a few beers ;)

no real giveaways, but you've convinced me there is a 19 lurking in there now

Hi Dave, just wondering if you resolved your problem and to ask what the problem was. I have started having the same problem and any clues before using an auto - electrician would be good! Cheers :y

Do the paperclip test see if you have any codes,
if you do open a new post and we can help you further mate :y

Thanks Ghost.....didnt want to start new post for something that has probably been asked a thousand times already, but havent found anything in my search! I have watched the video for paperclip test and was wondering how the sequence goes..i.e how do I know when a sequence has started then finished? And would this be connected to my power sounder causing me grief a little while ago? I bought a new one, but still had problem with it sounding at any time, even when driving!
Thanks for your time :y

The codes start with 12 ie 1 1 1
= 1 2 =12
each code is given 3 times so you will read 12 three times before it goes to the next code
it also ends with 12
if you do it without the engine running you should get code 31 ( no engine rpm signal ) this is normal.
31 would be 1 1 1 1
Hope that helps a bit
You can also open a new thred with what you want, dont worry if it has been mentioned before, you will get help. No one will say anything about that, :y
if they do tell them to sod off Lol

Its the crank sensor on it way out, stops engine from running if a fault happens, some time dont give a code. :y
-
Hasn't done it since, it's been a good little Omagna, I threatened to replace it with a Merc C220 CDi :)
-
The progress so far, first of all, a massive thanks to the Massive Loo Knee ;) for reading my codes, though there weren't any :-/ Got me a new VX CPS (Crank Position Sensor) VX got the one for my reg, it must have been a Friday afternoon car, as they have it down as the earlier more expensive one, so, slight delay, got the right one now!
Haven't had chance to fit it yet, doing it on the morrow.
Today, however, it decided to start, I left it to idle for a while, it stalled and wouldn't start again, the paperclip showed a code 12 only, after the paperclip test it decided to start straight away ::)
So it's all on tomorrow, fortunately I've got a contact to fully test the ECU just in case.
I'll be back. no doubt :D
-
Ok, it's fitted and started every time since, no stalling when ticking over, yet! This maybe a figment of imagination, the tickover does seem smoother, it has spluttered a wee bit in the near past.... we shall see..
Watch this space :-X

Well, Wifey has been driving the Omagna today, she says it's been revving high and giving some funny harsh gear changes, short journeys only, so, I'm thinking it's when it's going off cold start!
Think I'll use it tonight to give it a good ragging, we'll see ::)

Mmmmmmmmmmmm! I think it's the Wifey myself, never missed a beat for me, it's deffo sharper on the acceleration front :)
Seems to tick over smoother too.... :y

Glad to see you got it sorted mate :y
-
Well, we'll see if it keeps starting in the mornings now :-X
-
Still Ok, starts every time :-X
