Title: Thermostat Housing.
Post by: star_whites on 02 November 2009, 12:51:36
Ok I need a little assistance. I want to replace the thermostat on my 3.0 however on stripping down I couldnt get the seal to brake between the housing and the pipe. I tried giving it a bit of a pry with a bar but the housing shattered on the bit that fastens to the engine. It doesnt leak but obviously it still needs replacing as I would image it will eventuially work loose and leak.

Does anyone have any tips on how to split the two??

Bolt the thermostat housing back on, then get a monkey wrench on the pipe and twist it :y

I just bought a new one from VX, it was only £14 if I remember right, and it had the seals fitted, I was amazed they had one in stock

Yes, massive surprise they had one in stock!

But yes, they are very cheap.

I usualy unbolt the stat and turn the stat housing and then un-bolt the B-bolt.
