Just to check but does the rubber strip under the front bumper have any major use. Noticed that on my old Elite bumper there was one but not on my MV6 one.
Is it inportant or just for show.
Thanks all
Steve.

It's quite a flimsy soft rubber strip, and I view it as 'cosmetic'
It's very easily damaged too.
Some miggy's have it fitted, some don't. Don't worry about it's absence.

I imagine they where all fitted once at the factory, not having one probably means a bumper has been replaced at some point by a non Vauxhall body shop.
As for why it is there, it is probably slightly aerodynamic, and may reduce drag slightly, probably would not worry many people unless the spend an awful lot of time on the motorway. Some older cars you may notice have the bumper that dips in front of the front wheel slightly, this is also to reduce drag.

I reckon it makes the car look tatty sometimes when i look at it,and feel like ripping it off myself. :-/

Made of soft rubber, I guess so no damage done when parking up to an high kerb nose on.

Its a great audible warning that you are about to grind out the front bumper ;)
Mine was a bit tatty-straightened it up and sanded the lower edge, bit of blacking, now looks as new :y
