Title: OBD2
Post by: acura on 02 November 2009, 17:51:29
Hi,

first day on the road for the meega. Was a bit nervous as I had changed the timing belt and stuff a week ago so first time out in anger. All seems well, thankfully.

When I bought the car I noticed it had an intermitant engine check light so I used this to bargain the seller down a bit. It comes and goes and doesn't affect the drive but it now needs investigating.

I'm sure you boffins have answered this many times before but on a 2002 2.2 is the code output OBD2? Also, will one of those cheapo readers from fleabay do the trick and re-set when sorted? Final question guys, where is the plug-in for the reader?

Many thanks in anticipation.  :)

yup, obdii.  Socket in fusebox under steering wheel.

generic obdii can only read engine, not other onboard systems...

beware the cheapo cheapo one does not work properly but I bought a slightly dearer one that works fine - pm me for details

pretty much any OBDII reader should read an OBDII compliant car. If it doesn't its faulty.
