Hi all
I have a oil leak from the oil pressure switch on my 3.2 elite i have replaced it twice but it feels like the threads may be stripped I did think it was the crank seal but i had Darth loo Knee change that when he did cambelt for me but said it was not the crank but oil pressure switch i did put another washer on it and some ptf tape and thought i had cured it but to no avail he did mention Helicoil but ???? he did make a very good job of the belt car runs superb but i cant run around with oil coming out of there and if it lets go altogether im sure it will be catastophic help and advice needed

if it is the threads you's some liquid metal, make sure it's clean on both the engine and the threads, smear it on the threads finger tight then leave for about an hour to harden then tighten up, should have good threads again then. :y

Needs a helicoil.

can helicoil be put in in situ i did think of liquid metal but was not sure

Bob use a Helicoil they work brilliantly and do not cost a great deal at all, plus easy to fit. You will be able to get the switch out at a later date if a new one was ever needed.

You will need to remove the plastic engine cover tray, 4 bolts. You will be able to get at the switch easily from underneath then. So yes you can put a Helicoil in situ :y

Does the oil go to the oil filter after going to the pressure switch?
Obviously you will want to keep the quantity of swarf going into the oilway to a minimum but a tiny amount shouldn't do any harm if the filter captures it before it can get into the system.

yes but after reading about helicoils will have to drill out then rethread then insert helicoil that might not be easy for me looks like the garage

Could any one tell me wat size helicoil i would require

Helicoil size please ive seen them on e #ay but not sure of size but its nipped up and at this time not leaking wether it lets go i know not i have not sourced a garage yet that can do it for me

Thanks all for the help and advice after constant phone calls i mentioned it to an old friend of mine who was a blacksmith at the mine but who now runs an enginnering setup in my village said bring it along let me have a look, and yes he as helicoiled it for me found all the threads were stripped apart for the first couple at start but all is now good
