Title: removing td starter motor

i cannot get to the top bolt on the starter motor..  does the inlet manifold have to come off to gain access i,m stuck at the minute. :-/ :-/

I removed the inlet manifold and it was so much easier to get at the starter motor, only problem is you might need new paper gaskets for the manifold as mine ripped.

thanks for that i thought after a hours attempt it was the way ahead. i,ll get new gaskets as they wasn,t changed when glow-plugs were done. :y :y :y

if you have a cut down 19mm spanner and are able to get the car up in the air it can all be done without taking inlet off.

done both mine from underneath, bit of a fiddle to get the bolt baclk in but no messing with the inlet!!!! :y

i had it well up in the air and i struggled. mot booked for tomorrow. so next attempt is with manifold off, cheers guys  :y :y

Easier to take manifold off than mess about from underneath
