Title: Idle go weird while go from D to N with full brake
Post by: giffila on 09 November 2009, 14:18:00
Everytime that my car has stopped from driving and move lever from D to N while fully brake applied, the engine rpm will swing up and down, this oscillation is varied from 300 to 800 rpm for a couple of time, then the engine has stalled after that.
I think that may caused from TPS sensor and Idle valve motor is poor, but after cleanning and replaced them, the problem is still not fixed.
Is there any advise?

Do you get any unusual wheezing noises from the brake servo?

(just wondering whether a split diaphragm in the servo might be letting lots of unmetered air in to the inlet manifold when you press the brake pedal)

If your brake servo is behaving normally you should be able to switch off the engine and then get three good brake applications before the stored vacuum is used up (and the pedal feels like there is a brick wedged under it).

(Before the OOF lawyers add the customary disclaimers I should point out to viewers at home Do this test with the car stationary and the handbrake on.)

But if 2.0/2.5/3.0 petrol, most likely icv, or breathers/throttle need cleaning
