hi im interested in a lsd for my omega mv6 3.0 manual and i have found one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230395283633&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching
but the seller doesnt no what it came off, was it only the 3.0 manuals that had a lsd and will there be any ID numbers on it that would tell me.

It was mainly ex police manual 3.0 and the only way to be sure is take the backplate off and have a look :(

Are they like Carlton/Senator LSD's?
You can tell them if the driveshafts are out and you can see a X inside each side.

So apart from the top mounts, (two on Omega, one on Carlton) I reckon they'd be interchangeable.

as i know all mv6's had lsd, if you want to check jacup the rear so both rear wheels are off the ground and with car in neutral and hand brake off turn the wheel, if the other wheel turns in the opposite direction it has lsd :)

It does tell you in the haynes manual how to identify an lsd,there are certain numbers stamped on them iirc. :y

Nope, practically none had them. Very, very rare for one on retail spec.
More common on ex-police cars :y

That is how a normal (open or non LSD) differential behaves if you have the handbrake on.
There are three types of LSD
- Friction: uses clutch plates to stop the differential operating until a pre set force is applied
- Viscous: uses the drag of a viscous fluid (oil) to control the differential rotation.
- Lock Up: if the differential rotation exceeds a pre set amount the diff locks up solid.
I would assume that the Omega would use a viscous LSD. Turning one rear wheel by hand with the hand brake on you should be able to turn it (slowly) with the drag of the viscous fluid resisting you and the other wheel turning the opposite direction.

indeed it does along the bottom of the I'd plate it should read something like:
2 0 37 : 10=3.70
the 0 is there if it is not a limited slip and it will be anS if it is a limited slip

:-? I'd have thought the only thing that confirms for sure is that the handbrake needs adjusting.

Bugger, had my Land Rover hat on. (they have a transmission brake on the back of the gearbox).
