Title: Ignition Key, programming??
Post by: Ken L on 12 November 2009, 16:42:32
I got two ignition keys with the car, one fully functioning two button, single press to open on one button, and single press to lock, second press to deadlock on second button, the other key is a two button similar key, but is a blank, and nothing happens when I press the buttons, does this need programming at the dealers? and what do they charge usually? obviously it also needs cutting at a key place.

Does the led light up? It could be at the simplest a flat battery (in the key) or, as is often the case, you need to send it to Martin Imber to have the battery holder re-connected to the pcb.  :y  :y  :y

Interesting that post Enfield, thanks.

The Boy, yes it's a new blank key, need cutting, can the key programming be done remotely from the car? could I send it to you for programming?, and would my original key still work ok so I would have two fully functioning keys?

Also. nothing lights up on either key, but the 'new' one does have a small round red dot, the one I use has no ligh aperture.

Ah! Jimbob, I thought that would be the case, Theboy is a bit too far from me then to do the job, wouldn't be economically viable, what do dealers charge? or is there anyone local to me with the gear needed?
It's not a priority at the moment, but I would like to have the spare key. The 'new' one has no battery in it, just ckecked it earlier.

I was at the dealers today, Pentagon Vauxhall, picking up a little trim button thing, so I called in the service dept' to see what they charge

As said, they want the car, both keys and the card etc, £45 inc vat.
