Title: Front shock absorbers
Post by: Omegadoha, Desert Member on 10 November 2009, 16:28:16
I need a new pair of front shock absorbers, but I'm told they cost about 330 quid each here. Therefore I'm considering importing a pair but was wondering if anyone could suggest a manufacturer and a supplier. I've come across this website, are these any good? Plus don't know if you get everything in the picture.

KYB have a good reputation, but the ones you selected are for the 4 pots. U got the 3.2 lump. So, I wonder if they are any good.

Anyone out there could confirm if these would fit a 3.2?
Thanks  :y

I put on a set of Bilsteins obtained from Balance Motorsport - http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/ - at a good price.  Think Daz just got his from there as well.  Mention OOF when ordering to get a discount....     :y

I've changed both front and back in the last month.
front ones are Bilstein and rear are Kayaba ones (KYB). And I must say go for the Bilstein they're better and actually front ones were far more cheaper than KYB, but god knows why rear ones are more expensive

Oops! Thanks for pointing that out! Just browsed through the website again and there is a 6 cylinder option - same price.  :y

Welcome mate  :y
If you wish, I could check prices for the front shock absorbers with a spare parts shop which stocks Opel parts here in Bahrain (Automart) and post the prices by tomorrow?  ;)

Yes I did get all the shocks from this place and he was brilliant, they were also here the following day  :y

As for how it feels... well it feels a totally different car, although Irmscher Springs have also been fitted to the Bilsteins, so when I put my weight on the wing of Vader... it does not move anymore :o
The shocks that were taken off were useless to say the least ;D ;D

As for the asking for OOF discount I did this but he is giving 15% cash back at the moment if you ring him and ask, so you wont get OOF discount aswell as I asked that too ;D ;D

The parts shop guy just gave me a call (miraculously!) And said he would b having the shock available in about 1 month. Make of the shocks is Topran (never hear of it myself!) But r supposedly made in Germany!
Anyway the cost of these shock absorbers would be BD 40 - 45 a piece

Their spare parts are usually very good OEM parts FYI  ;)
