Title: fixed lower cambelt idler on 2.5
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 17 November 2009, 20:30:47
Does anyone know if the fixed lower idler can be fitted to a late 2.5 engine - or is the concentric one absolutely required?

I have a 2.6 kit spare, I'll use the pulleys off it for my 2.5 if that idler will fit...

Just to clarify, what I'm asking is, will the timing be correct on the 2-4-6 bank, with the lower idler fitted, to the 2.5 lump... or does it need the concentric one to set it..

Should be spot on if the heads have not been skimmed

That's what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure having never done it - thanks Mark :y

Does fitting new pulleys to old backplate cause any issues?

I can't see for one min that it would (especially with new bolts and a bit of thread lock)

Was Jimbob's just a bad component?

Backplate is no issue...jimbobs was just the fact it was covered in oil following machining!.

Wont make that mistake again!

Used the old backplate when i changed mine, i also fitted an adjustable pully instead of the fixed one.
No probs with any of it :y
