Hi Guys,
Tonight the missus called me because she could not get the gear selector out of "P".
Drove down there and knew from previous issue, that I could remove the selector surround and move the little yellow plastic forward and job done...could select gears again.
Now, back at home, car in P and same thing...cannot move the selector.
Is there an easy proper fix rather than having to keep the cover off and move a little plastic tab every time we want to move after parking?
cheers

Failed/failing brake light switch ....... :y
before you say that your brake lights work, so it can't be the switch ;) there's 2 sets of contacts in there.
A new switch sorted the same problem on mine, about £20 IIRC :y

Very seldom the solenoid. Dodgy brake switch up behind brake pedal :y
Sh*t must type faster :D

Its either the solenoid or the switch on the brake pedal AFAIK ... best get a circuit tester on it and try and see which. I believe the brake switch is the more common failure ..
HTH
(ps .. don't think there's a seperate fuse but check fuses number 9 & 26 .. they are mentioned as auto transmission in the hand book )

thanks for the quick replies guys.
Will investigate further in the morning. Worst case scanario will just have to keep moving the plastic flange each time until gets new brake switch fitted.

Or remove the assembly `till you get the new switch :y
