Hi guys,
What happens if I remove the CATS off my 3.0 MV6 and replace them with straight pipes? Will I lose power/torque? Is there anything I should watch out for? Appreciate your advises. Thanks.

Not sure on gain or loss, but you may have problems at MOT time if you don't refit the cats.

Thanks for the concern mate. There is no MOT test here in the Philippines. Cheers.

Some years back I had a Magnex s/s system with cat replacment pipe fitted to a Cavalier GSi. No re-tune was needed, the power improvement was noticeable but not huge.

Guys what do you think by engine retuning???
And why would that be needed if replacement cat was used?

Replacing the cat with a straight-through pipe alters the flow through the exhaust.
I would have thought that the MAF and lambda sensors would be able to correct for that though?
There is not an awful lot of tuning you can do apart from free-flow air filter (or no air filter :) ) ?
