Title: Windscreen Demister
Post by: simmo on 26 November 2009, 17:16:33
Hello all... My problem is that my windscreen won't demist, even when blower is on full. I am getting heat and the windscreen will demist about 3rd of the way up, but there doesn't appear to be an even or very powerful flow of air from the vents. The blower motor seems to cycle ok through the speed settings. During the recent rainy weather I've had to drive with the window partially open in order to stop the windscreen from misting over, despite having the blower on full! Will appreciate any suggestions, thank you. :-[

Check the scuttle drain is clear, air re-circ is off and that the pollen filter is not blocked up.

Close the centre vents, it gives more airflow to the screen :y

I had this issue with mine, have recently tracked it down to the re-circulate flap being stuck shut.

Remove pollen filter and give it a good poke with a stick!

At some point I'll work out how to get it to close again. When I press the button I can hear a relay click behind the dash, but nothing happens at the flap.

Thank you all for the advice - I now have plenty of areas to look into over the next few days. :)

They're all in the same place. As you stand infront of thec ar, far right hand side of the scuttle is a flap, I find it's easier to open if the rubber seal is lifted, and the pollen filter is in there. 2 plastic clips hold it in.  :y  :y

I'm surprised at the fitting - just held in by a couple of clips at the top and free to flex.  Can't understand how the pollen doesn't just go round the sides, unless there is so much suction that it is held in place if the fan is running  ::)
