you will also need a cam locking tool, only a fiver. I would also replace the water pump as well, as its cambelt driven on the 4 pots, if that fails, it takes the engine with it.
-
thats what i thought... as for the locking kit, a friend has 1 as he has a vectra that has the x20xev lump as well plus he's a mechanic so i may hav to speak nicely to him :P
EDIT: as for the cam belt kit, is that the one i should get? (in terms of quality)
-
you don't need a 'kit' with the 4 pots, its just a single plastic wedge.
No experience of that brand, so can't really comment. I usually get it from a Vx dealer on TC.

I'm not sure what the difference is, but when I got a new cambelt from the dealer for our 2.0, they wanted to know engine number, as there were two possible part numbers for the belt.

i thought thats what the X20XEV bit was (to my understand it translates as 2.0i 16v)

Haven't got my TC book here, but I seem to remember seeing two part numbers in there for X20XEV cambelts, engine number dependent.
Can anyone confirm?

Both Contitech & Gates are Vx OEM suppliers - the one on ebay is a Contitech so will be OK qualitywise (used 2x Contitech kits on our V6s)
Can't comment whether it is correct kit for your car. Try http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/timing-belts-and-kits-final.php?year=1997&Submit=Next&make=Vauxhall&model=Omega&sub=&eng=2.0000 - you may find its cheaper!

The only reason we can see for the two belts is mileage change.
The early belt was menat to be changed at forty thou and the later belt changed at eighty thou.
All the other parts are the same its just the belt that changed.
To be honest we only sold the later belt kit as the prices was the same and they fitted the early engine without problems.
Of course this could just be a load of bull from VXM

EDIT: ok whats the difference between CT870, CT870K1 and CT870WP2? im gonna guess its something to do with this different belt used on earlier engines etc
2nd EDIT: Forget the above EDIT... just read the more info bit... maybe i should do that first eh :-[ :-[ :D :D :D
Belt, Belt Kit, Belt Kit + Water pump :y
