Hello all. Just got the Omega taxed and MOT ed and its decided to play up. I have a miss fire when accellerating. It seems fine on tickover. Looked at various threads for the Paperclip test so I thought I should give it a try first. As sad as this sounds, I can't find the fusebox under the steering wheel. Took off the flexible trim but could not see it. Cam covers done less than a thousand miles ago. Any help would be appreciated. Mark Newbie 2000 2.5 v6 Facelift. Manual. :( :'(

follow the centre of the wheel down, where the cowling ends, there is a large button to press down,,,this reveals the panel :y

Just been and had another look. I took the wrong trim under the hard plastic fuse box cover Doh! Going to try the test and see what it shows. Will post codes if any show up. Cheers
-
In the car now with laptop and it is showing code 31.
Should I carry out the code with the engine running? Cheers Mark
Just carried out the test with engine running and no codes show. Just keeps flashing 1 - 2. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
Cheers. Mark

1 - 2 ( 12) is the start / finish code :y
31 is no rpm ( normal on a v6 if the engines off )
if thats all you got then i would look at dis pack / ht leads / plugs :y
but make sure there is no oil in the plug wells first :y
-
31 No Engine RPM Signal
So perfectly OK when the engine isn't running.
If my memory serves 12 is the 'start of sequence' code. If there are no codes it just keeps repeating.
Codes for 2.5 V6 here http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1160152415

I will have a look some threads for doing the job, plugs leads and coil pack. Looks like a job and a half though. Has anyone got an idea of prices for parts and would I need to get them from VX.
Again Thanks for the help.

you say cam covers have been done ?
did you do the breathers at the same time ?
bunged up breathers is what scews up the covers :'(
if the plug wells are clean, check to see if the leads are oily :y
even after cleaning, they can start to break down as they get hot :'(
basicly start with the cheep things first :y
i payed 25 quid delivered for my leads ........... off flea bay :y
i will dig out the address for you later :y

take the windsceen scuttle and the plenum off to get at the dis unit :y
or pm daz ( darth loo knee ) :y
he is breaking cars again and he is not far away from you ( sjoke )

Daz and Pete did the belt, covers and cleaned the breathers. Did a good job with no problems
I may them a call later. Bit worried about driving it though as it running rough. Would the plenum cover need to come off for the spark plugs?
Cheers Mark

Hi
Had the same deal...
3k after doing the gaskets got a miss.. I guess it's somthing to do with the leads simmering in oil for months - then they dry up & cause probs... try plugs & leads first - got mine from ebay - 250523697106 - £25 lucas ones - seem ok, i changed the plugs as well 270483071695, Horrid job ! much wailing & gnashing of teeth!!
if it's still missing after that then dis pack....
Enjoy !
Steve

Cheers. Got in touch with Elite Pete so hopefully I will save my knucles and he will advise which way to go.
Thanks for all the replies and help from everyone. :)

Thanks for all the advice.
Elite Pete came and sorted it out. It turned out the DIS pack had rusted and was causing the missfire. He did the leads and plugs while he was here.
Thanks for a good job Pete (as allways) and to all the members who helped. Appreciated. :y :y

It was nice to meet you again Mark. Glad I could get it sorted and that it didn't rain too much ;D
