Can anyone out there help me. No vacuum at HBV. i need the location of the hbv vacuum solenoid. have a 2001 2.2 petrol estate with full cc.
-
On a 2.5 its behind the glovebox obscured by ducting, adjacent to the solenoid for the recirc flap valve.
Note you should only need vacuum to shut the hbv, i summer mode full aircon.

i will follow this with interest as i think mine is failing. In this rather nippy weather, just pull off the vac lead to the HBV. That will force all coolant through the heater matrix, and make it all nice and toasty warm in the car 8-)

found it swopped with recirc solenoid tested - flap not workin hbv opens & closes = duff solenoid.
-
So John was the solenoid behind the glovebox like BoatBoy said?
-
yes it was. screwed to the heater box alongside the re-circ solenoid. just above the lower heater vent.
black vac rubber pipes = hbv
black/blue rubber = recirc flap
thank you all

Oops!
If you pull off the vacuum pipe from the HBV do not forget to blank off the vacuum pipe end or you will probably have even more problems.

Have you still got the duff solenoid, Boatboy?
It would be useful to know how it fails, i.e. is it the solenoid coil going, or the moving parts of the valve part.
