Title: 2.2 auto irn bru'd (petrol)

My mates friend has a wee problem his son spilt a can of Irn Bru all over the gear selector area now its stuck in first when you select drive won't reverse but has 3rd if you switch on the winter button and won't move in 1 2 3. :o :o
So far he's dried out the plug and sprayed the gubbings under the cover (selector lock) with whatever sparkys use to drive moisture out off electric control panels.
anyone any ideas

switch cleaner, or window cleaner works stuff in can but dont spray alot as it will take agesto dry. :y
