Hi All
As I had an advisory on MOT for wishbone front bushes, have fitted new wishbones.
Car didn't seem any different from before really, and I thought car running nice and steering OK, but thought it best to have steering and suspension geometry checked at WIM.
I can hardly believe what difference a few adjustments can make,
Rear wheels needed lining up as well as toe in set, that is why had a slight tendency to stray to the left, LH front camber well out, so both set right, both front wheels slightly off line so reset and toe in set.
So much for tyre fitters in Southampton. Had tyres fitted in August, and they checked settings on magic machine similar to WIM's and said everything was spot on.
Driving home from WIM, seemed like driving a different car. No wandering, no tramlining, no correcting for bumpy roads or changes due to road camber, steering wheel exactly straight on straight road, began to get withdrawal symptoms!!!! wanted to keep moving steering wheel!!!
I am annoyed that I never went before now.

I will second that, had 4 cars done in the last 18mths with same transformational results.
-
had the same done my self, totatly transforms the car, reasonable price to. I make a 100 mile round trip to see them :y
-
Totally agree that WIM know their stuff. Took my previous Mig there and they cured the tendancy to drive into the kerb. They did such a good job I took SWMBO's Focus there too for new tyres and a full geometry setup all in one go.

Bloody ell! Mine was doing just that too and I replaced both front wishbones with VX ones (KRIST they were dear) and did the rod ends as well, plus the drop arm idler too for good measure then took it to National Tyres for them to re-align all 4 wheels. 'ux me it is still doing exactly the same.Where is there a reputable place that I can get it re-done and know it will be right?I live in Leicester.GudLuk

There is a place in Leicester that appears to be OK if you give them some settings, but if you have a geometry problem, its worth the trip to WIM, as they understand geometry and the interelationships, and what will happen with a set of static settings what will happen dynamically...

Over the years I have had five Omega's, my current car has covered 169k and since Tony at WIM worked his 'magic' it handles the best of any of them.
I had spent £170 just on wheel balanceing and geometry checks, over the last 6 months to sort a problem, all 'crap', WIM worth every penny including there cost, fuel, and time.

Well worth it though ... I went twice from Swindon .. once to be told they would not do the alignement until the wishbones were changed ... 2nd time after changing said wishbones !!!

Done the treck twice now from Fife... Thats north of edinburgh, in case some don't realise where it is. Think St Andrews......
Its worth the journey. Tony Bones knows his stuff, as do the rest of the chaps on the shop.
Granted, I mixed the journey with a holiday both times, but I wouldn't take an Omega anywhere else, to be perfectly honest. :)

are they exspensive

are they exspensive
Not if you mention OOF, its about £80 for the full job. They are tad more than some but they are worth the extra, they have an impressive hawkeye system, i won't take my car anywhere else now.

Hi,
And, very very unusual for any repair workshop, they have a proper wheelchair accessible toilet that my wife was very pleased to find.

I can only agree with everyone who has commented here, the service given is excellent and the results are dramatic, I made a 200 plus mile round trip and wouldn't hesitate to do it again... :y

is there any good places up north . That any of you know of :-)

I initially went to a place in Dunfermline but was not impressed. Workshop was shitty and toilets/washbasins splashed with last weeks handcleaner and what knows else. Used similar kit to Mr Bones but the tech knowledge was simply not there. said fronts were only adjustable for tracking and when i pointed out otherwise, the chap was somewhat shirty. I paid for their time and left, in best News of the World fashion, rather than create a problem. Lesson learned.....
No doubt that there is somewhere up (real) north that we could use but nothing known as yet..... :(

Ive done it twice from Chester..
Well worth it.
He is good on tyres too, bought my last 2 sets while I was down there each time.
Thumbs up for them, and the commute from me :y
-
I have been to WIM twice, and agree with everything that has been said before, i am going to book the jeep in for a check and poss alignment work within the next couple of weeks. Fortunatly it is only about a 70 mile round trip for me but for thos a lot further away it will be the best money and time you will ever spend on your car, tony is THAT GOOD. :y
-
Wow this thread is total blush time from me...... What can i say other than thanks everyone for your time and distance commitments.... I'm only sorry it's so bad out there that you have to travel so far to us but hay it's nice to meet you personally so happy days.

Remember, if you lower the suspension, you must inform your insurance policy, and it may incur a higher premium.

I know them well..... Was really good but gone down the pan lately, i don't know why so assume it's down due to new staff?

Tony - no need to feel embarrassed about all the plaudits you receive from this forum. It's rare these days to find someone who really cares about service to their customers. I, like others, have travelled a long way (up to Chesham from Hastings) to have you align my Elite, and also like everyone else found the money spent extremely worthwhile to say the least, as the car, which i have had since new, immediately felt completely different and much more responsive to drive. Keep up the good work!!

I feel very humbled by the dedication displayed by club members. I offer the club a very good price but it's not about money, it's about the people and then the car..... Despite owning a million pound centre i prefer to be hands on and in your face and live my life in the real world.
-
And an excellent price it is too, all 3 of our Omegas have had the WIM treatment. All my future cars will go down there too :y

You give a great service, and folks who love their cars will always go to the best. Add to that the friendliness and approachability of you and your staff and it is of no surprise to me that folks from other clubs also travel good distances for your "treatment"
Don't be humble .. be proud .. you've worked damned hard to get the reputation you have .... enjoy it :y :y :y :y :y
BTW .. "Happy Christmas" to you and all the Staff :y :y :y :y

A big thank you from my side as well - on the latest trip needed minor adjustments and I was pleased surprised not to be charged for the same. Excellent customer service and I will be returning there with any cars in future and have recommended the place to my friends as well.
Thanks you Tony and wish you and your staff a very happy X'mas.

i remember fixing one of the WIM guys phones on one of my many visits, and got a nice discount for it ;D

As others have said, and I've said on several other threads, only WIM do my geometry now on the Omega (and the Rover for that matter, but thats irrelevent on an Omega forum!), as other companies do seem to struggle to set up an Omega properly.
Its not just the machinery - of whilst WIM probably have the best in the country - its also about the knowledge and understanding.
-
Both my Omega's have visted WIM for full geo setups and also tyres as it makes sense to get them at the same time and WIM's prices are very competitive.
Wouldn't let anyone else touch the geometry on any car of mine!
