Title: Car won't start!
Post by: SMD on 25 December 2009, 15:16:13
I suspect a dead battery but just wanted to make sure.

Reason I think its the battery because when i unlock the central locking it seems weak and the same when locking, the other day it only managed to lock 3 doors. Got it jump started on wednesday and took it for a long drive, didnt drive it yesterday and wont start again today.

So new battery time? What type of batt do I get?

oh and merry christmas  :D

get it jumped off again and then check the charging voltage  :y
you should be getting around 14.5 volts  :y
in this weather, with all the electrical load on the car ( heaters / lights / ect ) if the alternator is'nt charging properly then it will screw the battery up  :y

As said above, check charging voltage, though if battery really knackered, you may get false reading.

If the battery is old, replace it (GM Go on tradec lub is a good replacement for a good price).

Other possibilities include too much idle drain on battery (eg, HRW relay welded on)

Most garages and some spares shops will do you a free battery test.

By garages I mean like service centres etc....not filling stations. :)
