Title: Recirculation system
Post by: robson on 24 December 2009, 19:52:46
Having changed my blower speed  regulator I decided to investigate the recirculating system that hadnt been working. The solenoid is working ok and the lever goes up and down but where the actuating lever joins the flap lever the connection point is half missing broken off. Any ideas on a repair. If not I will jamb the flap open

would replace it or fix it if left open knocks out the hot air and make it just warm.

Isnt the flap either open or closed depending on the switch position or does it move on its own

when on it should close so there is no out side air coming in. if it is broken would find out why, it should not be broken. unless some one has jam'd it. has it  still got it filter in on pass side in engine bay, pull the rubber off the pass side and lift the flap should see it if not would get a new one, some time stones can get in if there is no filter and damage the fan etc.

Yes the pollen filter is ok the lever that works the flap has a piece broken off  that fits into the solenoid lever. I thought that the flap only closed when the recirclulation button was pressed so that bad outside air didnt enter the car

can you not fix it some one on here may know the part number or you could get one from a scrapy, as would be a pain to put back and not fix it till later.

It is on the end of the arm of the  spindle that works the flap a  weak looking plastic connector has broken. If I can get to it I will try a bodge with a nut and bolt otherwise it neans a complete strip down

ok mate, would save you time if you could fix it, if you can try to find a star washer and put on the end better than a nut they lock on and dont come off.

You can use a hand drill £3 for the bit comes in handy somtimes, like a screw driver put drill bit in end and tighten the handle and just drill with your hand. :y
