Title: Not Sure!!
Post by: david036 on 28 December 2009, 09:42:50
Just had the car running this morning - has been fine before and we've just changed the rocker gaskets!
Car's misssing like mad now. Seems to be only running on one bank.  Also has started to smoke really badly, and is very down on power
Could this be the start of the head going?

guess plug wells were full of oil?

So, I'd be checking:
Plug wells (ie, gaskets still leaking!)
plug leads
plugs

Crikey, its not just mine then!! I parked my car on the drive running as sweet as a nut as usual on the 23rd Dec then went to start it yesterday and when it did eventually start it is also missing.Looks like it is just the front left plug though,I have tested for a spark and there isnt one at this plug. There is no oil in the wells etc,I think it may be a damp dis pack but not sure.Moo :'(

Had the same problem a while back-it was the DIS pack.

Was yours just damp or did you have to replace? Looks like a right pain of a job  :'(

Just managed to have a quick look, front left plug isn't sparking, pretty sure at least one on other bank isn't either.
Thinking more along lines of being the coil pack

Just a thought, if it was a damp coil pack how long for one to dry out...Or just replace anyway??

Mine was replaced-had a friend do it-need to remove front scuttle that holds wipers.

I have taken mine on a twenty mile drive and there is no sign of the coil pack drying out so I am opting for a new one personally as the car was a pig to start sometimes anyway and I had already decided that it may have been the coil pack. The car now missing and other peeps having similar issues which just goes to confirm that it is time for a new coil pack, thanks for your help and here I go under the scuttle panel again,I would not mind but I only replaced the HBV last week, lol,,Moo
