Hi All
new member here, with a bit of a problem with my 2.0 L facelift Omega -Automatic -72,000 miles on clock
Slips out of gear when running downhill and the "check automatic gearbox" lights up on display and runs in limp home mode only -single gear. The local auto specialist say that this is apparently due to a collapsed spacer/thrust bearing that allows the gear clusters to drift forward hence dropping out of gear!
Is this a known problem and is the only answer a rebuild at £1000?

would be cheaper just to get another, seen some autos boxes for |£90. :y

Hi Auto Addict,
My location is about 11 miles east of Southampton, and yes I was offered another auto box from "find a part" but that was £350 plus delivery and of course there is also the cost for removal/replacement.
Perhaps I should look further for more realistic price

Hi Wideboy,
Thanks for your response, yes have already checked ATF about two weeks previous to this, and auto box specialist did check it when I took it in for the diagnostic check, ta

What gear box is fitted to the 2.0 auto?

If so i have one :y

Hi RobseyMV6
I believe the 2.0L Omega facelift could have the AR25 auto box but I will need to double check, would be great news if it is!! and I see you are not that far away in West Sussex.
Will check it out and let you know if it is the right one.
