Title: Omega heater controls...
Post by: M0T0RVATE on 30 December 2009, 18:22:37
Hi Everyone

Seasons greetings and a happy new year.   :)

Can anyone tell me if the heater control dials/clocks from a late model Omega (pre facelift)
will fit into an earlier 94 model with the controls that turn right and left.

I may change to the newer controls, if they can be used in my 94 Elite.

Do the control units use the same vacuum/electrical connectors in all Omegas ??

Any help welcome,

Thanks,

Colin   8-)

OK thanks for your help.  :y
I can get the  DIGITAL  DISPLAY  DIALS, but how difficult is rewiring.
Do you have a basic wiring diagram.

Thanks,  Colin   :)

Colin.  Would I be right in saying you have Air Con?

If so, to change from your dials to the later Climate Control panel would involve a lot.  And by a lot, I really mean a lot.

OK, thanks to both of you.  :y :y

I am going to investigate because my Elite has a plain black heater dash unit,
so someone at some time replaced the original walnut unit (?).
So, I considered upgrading controls when replacing unit back to original.
Everything works fine.

Now wondering what exactly has been changed ?.
I have not seen a walnut unit or an mv6 black carbon unit with my type of switches,
and assumed mine were basic trim.

Or, is my heater unit correct for a '94 Elite, and the other walnut trim items upgraded ?.
It seems it is a  non-climate heater control unit with two outer temperature controls,
one fan speed control, and one vent/direction control.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Very early Elites didn`t have the "walnut" trims

IIRC it was mid 95 the walnut was introduced.

You talking about retrofitting climate control to a non climate car?

No chance.  Whilst nothing is impossible, it would be a massive undertaking. Huge. No chance.

Stick with what you have, or change cars.
