What symptoms are you seeing?
Head gasket failure is rare on the V6s, and traditional HG symptoms can be caused by more trivial problems. :y

hi thanks for replying. well the car was my dads and he tells me that has always used a bit of oil and water but when i last went to top up the oil there was a white thick cream coloured stuf in the cap and round the inside of the filler nozel no over heating but white smoke out of the exgust

White "smoke" is common given the present temperatures ... just look at all the cars around you !! its actually water vapour in the exhaust condensing as it hits cold air.
"mayonnaise" in the filler cap is common as that part of the filler remains cold and is prone to collecting condensation, especially if you only do short trips.

thank i only tend to do 7 miles per trip and the white smoke just seem more. and the oil on the end of the dipstick is normal so you think there is nothing to worry about.

No major cause for concern. Doing short trips I`d recommend oil & filter changes every 3-5K and frequent motorway blasts
