I will soon be replacing my noisey mishaped tyres with 4 new ones. I know there are stacks of brands out there but do you know what Vauxhall fitted to the Omega Elite when it was new?
-
IIRC Michelin pilots
-
Okay.... so off to Costco or blackcircle.com!

Pretty certain some came with Contis...
-
And certainly some of the spares were definately Dunlop
-
Yeh I've got an unused spare with a Dunlop on it

Same here on my 2002 car... but my 2000 model 2.5 had Michelins on it at new :y

Thought it was michelin primacy?
However over the prduction run period (9years? is it?) and the range of differant tyre sizes and countrys it was sold in, is there any reason to think the same tyre was used on all omegas?
dont know but would be tempted to guess not?

The tyre choice will have changed throughout production as the purchasing department negotiated better deals from different suppliers year on year

Some manufacturers for certain models did stick to a particular tyre, and even quoted it in the spec. The original Focus, which I was unlucky enough to have for a couple of years, proudly said Michelin ecobullshite (can't remember exact type, but one of the low rolling resistance).
Fortunately, I soon managed to wreck those tyres, then something better went on.

Thats easy to get round with each years new sales bumf and spec changes though.
There will be a spec for the tyre (and hence why the aftermarket ones are not the same as the factory items) and they just get made to that.
I must admit, I do hate michelins, much to hard a tyre compound

True, though on the Focus, it seemed they used those tyres for a fair while. That said, possible Mich were the only low rolling resistance at the time??
'Normal' mich are bad, but those low resistance (=low grip!!) were even worse (made even worse by the unpredicatble chassis)

Michelin Pilot Primacy were orginals on mine - kept with them until last year when prices got silly - went to Dunlop sp3000 - seem fine.

Mine had Michelin Primacy (CX?) when new. Replaced with Continental Supercontact2. I believe Continental was also OE fitment. Chose Continental as read a review somewhere that said they were good in the wet and quiet. (sorry cannot remember where). My 2002MY 2.2 had Michelin Pilot from new and my 2003 MY 2.2 Pirelli P7. (Now running Nexen CP641, not bad)

I had those Nexens on my old tractor - pretty good for a budget, but tend to let go rather easy in very wet conditions!

Yes, would agree. Bit untidy on the snow last night too.. ;D to use a motorcycling term, "bit of a tank slapper" comes to mind... :o ;D
Good in the dry though.

Only tried my CP641s once in decent snow (last Feb, had to go from Brackley to Reading and back after a 6" dumping of fluffy stuff). Never really a problem, except struggled to get it back on my drive...

I don't know how much 4 season tyres will wear in the summer on the Omega, but I'm trying out some Hankook OPTIMO 4S H730. They have been great in the snow (combined with 2 paving slabs in the boot!). I've been able to get up the hills in Sheffield with no problems, where others have been stuck.
I thought that having mud and snow rating would help out on the camping fields over the summer.
4 season tyres are quite hard to get hold of in the UK, but www.mytyres.co.uk has them (I would recommend supply only and get them fitted by someone you trust locally)
