All those tablets are pretty ineffective ime. Once you battery is shagged, its shagged. Get a new one and move on.

snake oil / bodge.
If it's broke fix it.

Dead right!
-
well dont use them on a shaged battery, they only clean the cell's out not fix a shagged battery, shagged battery's the cell's have gone any way, they only keep a good battery good and last a bit longer.

Rusty, can you tell me where you got the battery from with the 25 year guarantee. :y

Have you got a link for the Duracell car battery? I've looked on the Duracell Direct web site, can't find any links for car batteries :(

According to the USA sites ... Duracell started to produce a "specalist" Vehicle/RV/Marine battery in December 2009.

There is no mention of a 25 year warranty anywhere that I can find.
Anywhere.

Offering a 25 year warranty on any size battery of any current technology sounds like a hiding to bankruptcy to me.
I'm trying to recall a battery I've had that ever lasted that long and I can think of one. It's a lithium cell used to back up memory in a device I have. Wouldn't start an Omega though. ;D

That stuff looks to be EDTA which does work to de-sulphate the battery plates.
And contary to popular belief, you can re-juvinate what appears to be a goosed battery using various methods but, you only need to use this sort of stuff once they are showing signs of problems
The challenge would of course be getting some into a sealed battery.

I have used Bat-Aid in the battery in the previous tin-top. Added a tablet per cell when I had the feeling it was getting a bit ropey. Battery lasted for a good few years after that. It eventually failed suddenly, and to zero volts, at a motorway services, so probably an internal open-circuit.
I tapped an RAC guy for a jump start and he nearly wet himself when he saw it. Said he thought every Renault OE battery of that era died after 2-3 years at the most yet here it was 9 years later.
That battery was technically "maintenance free" but it did have cell caps that could be prised off with a little effort. Not sure if the GM ones would be as amenable.

The little Rover is still on its OE, that 10yrs old in April. Actually, it was built in Feb, passed over to sales in march. My old Acclaim was on its OE battery after 10yrs as well. Come to that, so was TAVvy (my old Rover 216GSi). Thumbs up to Rover battery suppliers ;D
MV6 one failed at around 8yrs, Go one on there now

You must be mistaken Entwood, Rustys battery is 25 years old, so that battery must have been developed in 1984. Then only made available to him...
I do wonder about some of his posts :-/

The battery on the TD estate is the original (2000), still starts it in -8 temps.
Am I tempting fate here ::)

As far as i am concerned, the only way to keep a battery in good order is to make sure that it is always fully charged and kept in a clean condition with clean terminals liberaly covered in petrolium jelly.
If the battery is more than 6/7 years old it will not be as Fresh as a new one and could be on it's way out although that is not always the case. :y
