Remember that the law requires a tow bar to be "Type approved" on any vehicle registered after 1998
http://www.caravanninglinks.com/goto/page/40/Towbar_Type_Approval_EC,94,20_explained
so be a tad careful what you buy.
If you plan to tow a "tin tent" like I do ... think about the cost of the towbar failing whilst towing .. and the resultant loss of assets ... and possible injury. .....
Not saying don't buy 2nd hand at all ... just be sure the towbar is appoved, undamaged, and fitted corrrectly.
I have seen a tow bar for sale that had been part of a major rear end shunt ... it looked OK .. but I wouldn't have trusted it.
"Caveat Emptor" as they say .. :)

Send a PM to 'Andy C' with details of your car and he can give you the price for a new one.

Caveat Emptor indeed :y
id prefer a new one obviously, the price for them isnt massive anyway. been looking and most seem to be sub £100.
I will send andy a pm, cheers mate :)

I got mine for my saloon from this company. They came to me at home and were quick in fitting it and the wiring is tidy aswell. The buzzer is also fitted so when indicating with a trailer on you know that the indicator light on the trailer is working.

Done that way cos it's easier for the fitter than take the dash out to fit a lamp in the tell tale that Vauxhall kindly provided when they built the car ;)

Bear in mind the different types of bar available. There's the cheapo 2" box section type that's slung under the car & the type where there's a big plate in the boot foor that all the major bits hang from & generally come with a swan neck bar. No full set-ups on eBay to show you, but there is some of a detachable towbar from the breaker in Heathrow shown (clicky (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OPEL-OMEGA-SALOON-BOSAL-TOW-BAR-ELECTRICS_W0QQitemZ350254607579QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item518ccd2cdb) but you'd need to check the plate for the boot is available, aswel as obviously the detachable bit). Also, a proper towbar for a preface lift & face lift are not quite the same as each other to allow for the deeper bumpers on later cars. If you fit a bar specifically intended for a preface lift car to a later car, then the ball will be too close to the bumper. ;)

Forget the plate bit in the boot ::) ::)
........ I've just seen that you have an estate & I've no idea about them. I reckon there must still be a difference re the deeper later bumpers.

Andy the ones I have seen for estates have two,( one 12" long the other about 18" or there abouts) 2" flat about 1/4" thick running length ways each side of the spare wheel hole. 4 or 5 bolts in each which have the tube spacers to stop squashing the box section like normal. :y

Sounds similar idea to my Astra G estate's towbar then. :y

Not a million miles away from you and an idea on price.
