Hi all!
Here's the thing. Couple a weeks back I had the problem with headgasket, which now is solved (needed to spend a lot of money though).
From this time AirCon blows cold air only, no matter what setting I'm having it on. There's no error code, service or engine light comin on. I took it back to the garage and had the car was checked again to eliminate any air locks (cushions), we checked the pressure and thermostate (all ok) and valve was changed. I've also changed the pollution filter. Still no result. Is it possible, that the system needs re-setting (probably at VX garage) because the battery was off for 2 weeks? And what else could I do, before I run out of patience and scrap the vehicle?
I'd be gratefull for any suggestions!

What's the outside temperature reading? I know if the sensor goes faulty it can affect the cabin temperature on climate models ::) ::)
Also, are you sure there are no air locks in the coolant system... That's the most likely culprit ;) ;)
-
Pull the small vacuum pipe off the top of the HBV and block it with a bolt or similar .. see if it now runs hot :)
-
All air locks were eliminated.
The outside temp reading is always correct. (I'm mean it doesn't say +7 if there's -3)
And what's HBV? (I'm really crap with it)
-
Heater Bypass Valve .. looks like a spaceship at the rear of the engine .. uses vac to control the amount of hot water that either goes to the heater or doesn't .. hence its name .. :)
-
These could be a stupid questions, but (1) is there only one pipe connected to it, and (2) is the HBV just above coolant tank (looks like UFO to me:)) (there's another "regular" tank right next to it - drivers side)
-
3 x 3/4" (ish ?) water pipes ... 2 on one side 1 on the other, 1 very thin 1/4 " ??? vacuum pipe to the top, hidden at the back underneath the scuttle.
2nd picture in this thread (which is about the V6 not yours .. :) but I THINK its the same ... although I could be completely wrong of course .. :( )

I'll check that 2morrow, as it's too dark for it right now I think. Would you mind if I contacted you 2morrow Entwood?
I'm really desperate and driving the car at 6.50 am when there's like -5degrees with no heat is a little bit dangerous and unconfortable (to say the least)...
And thanks for the guide, but as I read: "First, you need to drain the coolant (...)"
Can I (as you suggest) just pull the vac pipe out (while the engine is runnig)?

Yep... But you need to block the end of it otherwise you'll cause other problems wit unmetered air being sucked in ;) ;)
The vac pipe is the little one on top BTW :y :y

What you are reading is how to CHANGE the HBV ... you are not doing that .. you are disconnecting the vac to see if it makes any difference ... fault finding... :) as said before, and repeated by LD .. block the vac pipe with a small bolt to prevent other problems.. :)
-
Block the ends of both HBV and the pipe? Which end sucks and which one blows? (LOL) What should happen if I do it? And is it possible to eliminate any air locks by myself?
Sorry for me being such a pain in the backside, but I'm really crap with all that stuff.
-
Block off just the small vac pipe.
-
ok thanks
will post you guys with results as soo as I'm done with it :)
Cheerio

Just block the vac pipe... It will confirm whether there's hot water gettin to the HBV and through the matrix ;) ;)

Tried that already and it does nothing :(
Also could anyone tell me what does the manual mean by saying:
"Do not cover over the air vents when storing
items in the luggage compartment storage
compartments."
Where are those located in the boot?
-
Yes, the vents are found low down in the space behind the panel that hides the First Aid Kit Holder, this is on the drivers side of the boot immediately behind the rear lights. If they are covered by anything, it causes the windows to mist up through inadequate air circulation:y
-
wow
that I had no idea of
thanks a lot
I'll try and have a go at HBV vac pipe, but it's -4degr and I don feel like going outdoors
will keep you posted and thanks to all for all the hints you gave me so far
-
can anyone tell me what was suppose to happen once I press OFF and AUTO alltogether. It does nothing at all. :(
-
Right
Pressing OFF and Auto gives no change, but hey, I've found this on the net
http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/showthread.php?202901-Omega-HBV-Problem
The question I have is where are the matrix and another valve inside the car located? I checked the location described in the post, but found no valve or anything like it :(
