Title: Another 'Crank shaft sensor problems...'
Post by: Ian_D on 22 January 2010, 13:25:57
I guess my sensor is on the blink!

Last few months on and off the car has started to misfire randomly for a few seconds, then all go back to normal. When the problem started, it would only run rough maybe once a week at the most. However as time's gone by, its now becoming more or a problem, infact its now cutting out sometimes up to a couple of times a day and misfiring at least once every few minuets (and yesterday it refused to restart until I rolled to the side of the road parked up for 5 mins).

I’m wanting to fit a new sensor as its got a second hand one fitted at the moment anyway.

So does anyone know what the correct part number for the sensor is? It’s for my 199 R-reg 3.0 Elite.

From what I've read on here (and I could be wrong as I'm new to the miggy world) - a fault with the crank sensor will just cut the engine dead sometimes .... and prevent it restarting sometimes... I wasn't aware that it could cause it to run rough....

I could be wrong though as I say. :-[

Any fault codes?

You need to check the plug shape... Do not trust EPC... It'll probably be wrong :) :)
