I was wonderin' if there is a secret to sorting my problem.
My drivers side front seat belt has become a bit of a pain...it doesn't seem to recoil very well and after i get out a foot or two is left slung next to me seat.
Also, on occasions when i put it on it doesn't tighten up SO I have to manually slide the slack belt back over my shoulder in the hope that it will recoil enough to be tight again..
Any ideas...apart from trying to source/fit a new one.

My crappy Astra is the same, old age I think! (there's atleast 170k on it)

probably fluff n muck-remove B-post trim an have a look, had same on passenger side, put some wd40 into roller-pull belt out all the way first though! hope that helps you

Hmmmmmmmmm..I tried that..Guess I could give it another go !
-
failing the wd40 n clean then it must be the recoil mechanism?
-
At which point do i assume it's flubbered ?
-
as much use as chocky tea pot -But cant hurt to try again can it ?

I would replace it.Too important to mess about with. One of the breakers will probably have a known good one.Dread to think how much VX charge for a new one. ;)

Many many years ago, I took the cover off an inertia reel belt to see if I could anything to encourage the belt to recoil better. The spring easily fills the rear foot well! ::) ::) ;D ;D

The driver's seat belt on my Elite did the same thing when I got it. I noticed that the buckle was the 'wrong way round', and assumed that the belt was twisted behind the trim.
Turned out I was right, I removed the trim and folded the belt over and fed the fold through the top guide - problem solved and the belt rewinds as it should.

Won't be in any hurry to dismantle it then.
To replace it, is it just a case of stripping all the plastic coverings off to get at the bolts. ?
