Title: Removing Inlet Valves
Post by: ScottieMV6 on 27 January 2010, 15:53:41
I have removed all of the exhaust valves and stem oil seals and went to remove the inlet valves but they just won't budge. Thought it might be one that is a bit stiff but all the same!

Am I missing something? Is there a technique I don;t know about? >:(

If a technique works for the exhausts I can't see why the inlets would be any different. :-/

Is the problem in removing the collets, springs, etc. or something else?

I can't even compress the springs on the inlet valves for some reason.

Compressor worked fine on all the exhaust valves. Is there perhaps a different clearance on the inlet where the compressor could be fouling? Have to say i didn't see it fouling anywhere though!

Maybe the valve stem and collets are a slightly larger diameter and it's fouling on your spring compressor. That's all I can think of.

Gently tap the top of the compressor to loosen the collets

I'll give that a try tomorrow Martin but why would I need to do that on the inlet and not the exhaust? :-?

Still not working.

I am thinking that it can only be something to do with the compressor so I am going to try and borrow AndyB's to test this theory!

Andy if you read this before seeing the missed call on your phone can you give me a call please :y
