Title: Starting problem - continues
Post by: Richard A on 01 February 2010, 22:11:11
My 2.5 v6 Omega starts on the "second" turn of the key 90% of the time.
What could cause the problem, everything else is fine.

Have you tried starting it with the accelerator pressed?

One short turn of the key.
Starts fine if I press the accelerator - but have never had to over the last 100,000 miles.

Always found that with most vx ive owned,if you turn the ignition off to quick on the first attempt,it doesent seem to want to start very well on the second.

Problem started after 'new cam belt, water pump, new spark plug' were fitted. No issue with the work all excellent, but something was distrubed, but what ?
Always used to fired first turn of the key.

This really 'buging' me, Glasgow and back yesterday, 600 miles, no faster than 75mph = 31mpg, never missed a beat.
But each time I had to start the car it was the second twist of the key that it started, once on 5 cylinders then cleared to 6.
Tick over is 600rpm and very steady (50p coin steady)
I think I will change the leads, any other thoughts ?
