Does anyone have any idea what is the story with some Opel Omega 3,2 having a five speed automatic gearbox? What is the gear box model? I think it is not the same as in some diesels? Which cars were fitted with that box and why? Some 3,2 have "normal" 4-speed AR35 but some of the latest models seem to have 5-speed...

never seen the 5 speed fitted to UK Omega's rumour has it some of the very very, very! last ones had it, but never come across one. :-/
More popular in Europe though

Mines a uk model 53 plate and has a 5 speed auto box. Not sure if its 4 speed with overdrive or what, but definately changes through 5 gears.

If you have D 3 2 1 it's a 4 speed with lock-up in 3rd & 4th :y :y

Didn't the late Opel 2.5 24v Dti have 5 speed box's as standard, may be some late 3.2 opels got them?

Wish the UK got that lump instead of the 2.2 :(

Agreed, a tunning box on one of those brings it up to about 200bhp :y

what does the tuning box do to a 3.0 mv6? :D

Not as much, as there is no turbo to fiddle with

If you Chip it, about 10bhp, 20 if your lucky, both mine are chipped, not much difference, slightly better Mpg in snail mode.

It's easy to interpret the torque converter lockup as an additional gearchange on the 4 speed models. I didn't think any Uk models got the 5 speed gearbox. :-/ (it was a GM 5L40 gearbox IIRC)
If you have got a 5 speed 3.2 (which will indeed have PRND4321 on the gear selector), then...

PRND432 look in gallery for the car concerned - quite along time ago

Was Hans-V6's car.
Got a picture of the selector but not on my home laptop at the moment.

5 speed auto only on Y25DT (never put in Vauxhall). This helped overcome the defficiencies of the ratios on the AR25 fitted to U25DT and X25DT engines. But mostly done because the Y25DT would rip the AR25/35 to bits ;D
AFAIK, there is no map for the 4L40 on anything other than Y25DT, so even if someone did graft it on, it would most likely be far from ideal.
