might be a breather problem, or fuel pump going.

Next time it won't start, pour cold water over the injection pump to cool it. If it starts, your temp sensor is at fault.
Are you getting code 64 ?

It's located within the injection pump, and not user-serviceable.
However, there's a kit of electronic wizardry available to overcome the problem from Taw Valley 4x4.

Try a PM to Turk, as I'm sure he has the link.

Paperclip test = http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

Probably the same thing as referred to by Sethsmate, but, there is a relay that makes the engine always think its a cold start, then after a few seconds give the proper engine temparature, they run at about 30 quid...

This hot start problem is a common fault with these engines both vauxhall and bmw.
mine does it worse in the summer nothing to worry about.

I thought some of the performance chips overcame this as well?

Rumour has it that the sensor is replaceable, but I reckon it would be 'challenging'

The relay is the aftermarket modification that I've already spoken about.

From memory, it's available from Taw Valley 4x4 - think it's also on Ebay.
You could try a Google search!

i v,e a hotstart fix job fitted, but i think i,m  right in saying we are prone to a lazy starter motor prob that prevents it from starting, especially when warm. :y

I know that when I changed my starter, it helped with the hot start, but certainliy not a cure.  The other thing is, if your cranking the engine over and over on the starter, you end up cooking the starter if you're not careful...

Been known for a weak battery to be a cause of poor starting, not just from cold starts.
Have you had it checked.

Cured the hot-start problem on my (previous) tractor by changing the battery.
It had this problem even after a brand-new injection-pump and No.4 injector (Total cost = 1500 quid)!

Your battery must be 110% and (importantly) model-specific.
One or two others followed this route, and got it sorted.

With the cooler weather we are having at the moment, I would be inclined to point fingers at the battery to be honest, certainly worthwhile getting it checked out...

Have you changed the leak off pipes?

My td when warm once took about 10-12 seconds of continues cranking at tesco petrol station when I first got it (engine was warm as I drove there!).

And it took maybe 7-8 seconds starting it from cold too.

Changed the leakoff's and it now starts on the button.

It was parked up for over a month in the snow without been started, went to it, and it fired up in about 1 second worth of cranking! (Faster than my petrol even!!!)  ;D ;D :y

The car got a new battery about a year and a half ago, but it has been always hard to start when warm, I changed all the leak off pipes about 6 months ago and it didn't help, I think I'll try that hot starting fix on ebay.

Thanks everyone for your help :)

If anyone need parts I'm breaking petrol and diesel omegas, Just ask and I'll do my best to help.

Before spending money, put a large bottle of cold water in the boot and next time it's not starting when hot, pour the water over the injection pump head and give it a minute before trying again. If it starts you'll know for defo it's the temp sensor and worth trying the hot start fix kit.
Or, if you're breaking 2.5TD's, why not replace the  pump ?  :y
