yet another problem
car has developed a coughing/spluttering when driving AND when stationary thing is when the engine is warm after 5 or 10 mins it seems to dissapear.
Had new plugs a while ago have not run low on fuel so no dirt in fuel system no codes showing and had crank sensor a while ago too.
Any ideas guys
-
check the plugs for any oil / water
-
After checking plugs/leads other common things include maf sensor and dis pak.

check the plugs for any oil / water
That would be first job, check the HT lead boots for splits/cracks while you're at it :y

Right a slight result today have found a garage (father and son) who have over 40 years experience as mechanics at a Vauxhall dealers they have tech2 machine and everything.
Anyway have been told its definately a missfire problem so it will be either the plug leads or diss pack.
Also was told not to bother cleaning the ICV as this wouldnt cause a misfire but more a cutting out alltogether senario.
So guys question is how would you go about it buy and replace just the leads (£38) and see what occurs or buy and replace the diss pack as well (£75) just incase that fails in the future and while i have the access to it moneys tight so any thoughts would help.
Forgot to mention apparently there are FIVE different diss packs and need the numbers off mine so what is the easiest way of doing that or is it a case of having to take the old one off to get the numbers so i may as well replace it anyway.
-
you can get diss packs off flea bay for less than £75 brand new
-
cant seem to see one for a facelift tho.
-
as the great one often reminds us, don't go changing parts unless they are proven to have failed.
Did they actually check the plugs for oil / water?
Have you identified which bank / pot is miss-firing?
I'd stick some fresh plugs in there first, then try and find which pot is miss-firing, then swap HT leads around to see if the fault transfers to another pot, before you go buying a replacement dis pack
-
As long as it is an X25XE engine then prefacelift diss packs fit you just need to check the connector as there are a few different ones. The easiest way to check is to dis-connect the maf sensor plug and have a look at the socket shape. Then you could get something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-VECTRA-V6-IGNITION-COIL-PACK-OVAL-PLUG_W0QQitemZ300383682405QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item45f0433f65
I hope that helps. :y

Obviously spent all thier time doing MOT's then
There are 3 types of DIS pack.....

I should add that given the age of your car....it will be the later Horizontal one with the oval plug shape.

Thanks for the clarification Mark

thanks ALL for your help
Is the disspack hard to get off have been told bolts can be awkward
Is there a link to removal in maintainance guide
-
not hard, just fiddley...
When I did one,
scuttle off,
plenum off
you can now access the bolts / leads etc
undo em all,
feed the dis round past the hbv, and you will eventually have room to get it out, put the new one in the same, and do it all up again.
box of plasters at the ready.

lot more acces can be gained with wiper motor and linkage removed...only a few extra screw bolts but does help alot.
I also removed the HBV when I last worked on mine as all the extra clear space does make the final routing of cables much better...and it is a good chance to replace coolant if more than a year old.
