Getting an intermittent brake pad warning. How much wear is likely to be left. No nasty sounds or effects on braking, and only normally do a few local miles per week.
-
could be a loose sensor, usually fair decent amount of pad left. This was how much pad was left on mine when the sensor was close to being set off:

This was how much brake material was left on mine 2 weeks ago (and the pad sensor hadn't gone off). :o
If the warning is coming and going I would suspect a dodgy connection or that the warning is permanent and your MID also wants to tell you that the temperature is close to freezing.
Check your brakes now! We don't like losing members unnecessarily ::)

One of the little spring things .... does it matter if that falls off :-/
-
Thanks guys, will have to get them checked Im not up to pulling wheels off these days. It has started since the freezing weather.

The sensor wire flexes as the steering turns and has a connector clipped behind the Macpherson strut. Could be ingress of moisture if the rubber seal has gone but most likely wire fracture.
Sensors give very poor indication of pad depth as the disk tends to get a ridge around the edge after several k miles that cuts through the sensor very early.

pm me next time your down in hull and i will have a look for yeh :y

Yes it does matter. It pushes the pad into the fixed caliper frame.
If the spring is missing the pad rattles about and can jam or can slide away from the piston which ends up 1/2 on & 1/2 off the pad.
