No. 2 mig (3L mini f/l elite) wouldn't start this morning. Turned over fine but not a hint of firing.
It was running fine yesterday according to mrs ians.
I will do the paperclip test later, but anyone care to place a bet...?
I have never had a crankshaft sensor go on any of the 4 migs I've owned - maybe I'm overdue :-X
-
got enough motion lotion in it?
-
Was the immobiliser light flashing or extinguished?

This must seem like a really silly question......but what is a paperclip test???? :-?
-
Have a look at the maintenence guides, there is a method for extracting the engine ecu fault codes using a bent paperclip.
My money is on crank sensor so be ready for a 19....
-
Look down ;)

yep plenty of love potion, but I wouldn't rule out silly user error. Mrs has left it in D before which I think disables starting.

Nothing obviously flashing Kevin.. TBH I'm not sure what the imob light looks like :-/
-
Thats clever! :y Who discovered that? :o

Well paperclip test done and only getting a 31 - no surprise as its not running.
Its got almost a full tank of fuel.
Any ideas where to look next? Could it still be crank sensor even if no code 19?
Cheers,
Ian

just as a double check, make sure the transponder is still in the key
-
I have tried with both keys - no joy.

Yes. Happened to me when I had a 1994 2.5 V6. Just 31, no 19.
With a faulty sensor the ECU light stayed lit when the engine was cranking. With a new sensor it extinguished immediately.
-
Any other opinions before I lash out on a new crank sensor?
Cheers

Was it Mrs ians that filled it up?

Might be some silly suggestions here but;
Dis pack failed/disconnected?
Fuel pump (or fuse/relay)?
Fuel injector fuse etc.
?
-
Not silly suggestions..
Not sure if fuel issues would throw up fault codes :-/
I will certainly check DIS pack connections, but I would be surprised if it failed completely all of a sudden. The car has been running fine up until the night before.
-
DIS pack has 3 separate coils, and all 3 would have to fail for it to be completely dead.
Crank sensor could have partially failed while last driving it, meaning there is now insufficient signal at cranking speed to trigger the ECU. :-/

I think I do have a spare crank sensor that came with my 3.2. As I understand correctly, its the same part for 3.2 and 3.0 - if so, I can give that a try.
-
Well for reference it turned out to be the cranksensor despite no code 19.
