Title: automatic gearbox
Post by: john 259 on 13 February 2010, 00:14:19
Have had trouble with 97 2.0 keep going into limp mode ,at first you could turn engine off and restart the problem would then be ok for a while but now just can not seem to clear the fault.Ive changed atm oil cleaned selecter switch and today changed camshaft sensor but fault is still there. The only time it seemed to clear the fault was when i disconnected battery for about 30 mins this was ok until you reved the engine to 1500 then it went back into limp mode(last week). Now i can not clear the fault at all.Until the limp mode problem the gearbox was fine ,no slipping or clonking although the car milage is 135000.
any ideas

"Hello" and welcome :)

First of all, where do you live ?? stick your car details and location in your profile .. saves being asked a zillion times .. :)

The reason for asking is you need to have the codes read on the car .. by someone who knows what they are doing !!   So Brackley, Nottingham or near Winchester if possible ..

Some cheap code readers will check out the engine side .. but you need a proper tech2, or similar,  to read the gearbox codes properly
