Great, freekin brilliant - NOT! Having just spent loads of time and energy to get her serviced and brought back up to standard - she flew through the MOT, I went for a test drive and a good blowout. Magic thinks I on the way back, perfect at last. That was until on nice long dual carriageway at 60 there was a instantaneous jet of scalding water onto my left ankle and the car turned into a mobile sauna! :'(Lucky I had thick pants on so the only damage was a very wet floorwell. Judging by the heat of the water the heaters should be brilliant, you could make tea with it.
OK, what next, anyone any idea what might have gone amiss? I have not had this part of the car apart before but on closer inspection someone has had the lower part of the drivers dash trims off before.
Anyone had the matrix burst on them? Or could it be just a piss poor previous repair by some fool who should leave well alone?
For now I have taken the 2 pipes off under the bonnet and joined them without damage with a bit of 15mm copper pipe (fitted great) and secured the ends to stop it seperating until I get the matrix end sorted.
:DThe job is going to be a muredrous one because my left leg dont bend and my right one is shot too. Life is a bitch - Tell me about it! Sods law strikes again!!!!!!!!

In the maintenance section there is a how-to on getting to the heater matrix without removing the entire dash by just cutting a small section that is hardly noticable....it does require some gymnastics but no leg bending if you do it right ;D
Otherwise get in touch with DLK he might do the job for you and he will only charge a reasonable rate :y

Had a look at it myself just to see what the problem was but soon discovered that although the interior looked ok it had been got at by some butcher who had obviously tried to do it the 'easy way' before. The leak that had almost scalded me was aburst piece of rubber hose that the heater pipes under the dash had been bypassed with. No wonder the heaters were piss poor, there was none. Might even cost me another dashboard and centre console to sort out the damage the git had done! Why the hell these idiots cannot leave well alone baffles me. No wonder the car was a bargain. Worse than that is when I looked into the box that came with the car I found loads of bits that obviously came off it, including an old matrix with a bust header tank. Best thing I can think of now is to get a new matrix first and then see what else can be arranged. Darth Loo Knee, yep that is an idea!
