Hi guys, Baught my 2001 2.2 cd two weeks ago, nothing but head ache so far but i wont give in to it! 1st off there was a heating problem,Turned out that there was no antifreeze in coolant & with the bad weather we had recently froze up when they tried starting it the impeller broke on the water pump!got that sorted no problem running now but when it reaches temp the inside starts to steem up like a Turkish bath mostly on passenger side :'(
Am i correct in thinking its going to be heater matrix? :o
If im correct any ideas why it only seems to steem on the passenger side?
-
check the condition of the pollen filter first, and make sure the vent in the boot is clear
-
Before thinking of the heater matrix, have you checked the scuttle drain on the passenger side by the pollen filter.
Theres a good how to here http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1167524083
and is a common issue with migs, mine although didn't cause the interior to steam up was blocked. If left that way the water rises eventually getting into the car via the ventilation fan and soaks your carpets as well.
Hope this helps. ;) ;)
PS must type faster than tunnie but have got the link included :y :y

I'll also add, press the re-circulate button 'A' wait 5 seconds, then turn it off again, this will reset some of the servos behind the dash and often helps :y
-
oh and i do hope you have a good 50/50 mix with anti-freeze now
-
Thanks guys will try the scuttle drain 1st, were can i find vent in boot/rear? & yes plenty of antifreeze now thank you :y
-
assuming its a saloon, right hand side has first aid logo on it, vent at the bottom should not be blocked
-
mine did this too , changed pollen filter , cleaned out scuttle drains then looked at the correct blower settings , now works great.
-
Hi guys, no joy again! checked scuttle drains( clear like new) pollen filter(clear like new) checked vents in boot (clear like new) :'( I can only assume its going to be the matrix! or is it previous owner has covered all the things im trying :'( I love this car but i am fast losing interest in her :'(
-
when the matrix gives up and starts to leak,in my experience the carpet behind the front seats is normally soaking wet. also check sun roof drains.i think theres a guide on how to do that, or some kind soul will put the link up. :y
-
if it has climate control try the reset, press and hold auto and off together until the vents start buzzing, may need the engine off, key in position 2 for it to work.
Does the ac work?
-
Quite common for the Omega in this cold weather...I tend to open the front windows slightly...should clear VERY quickly thereafter.
-
Thanks for the tips, I will try reset thing on A/C cant reely say if A/C works as its been freezing cold since i got the car, It has no sunroof, And it doesnt appear to be soaking carpets though they do feel damp! I had to top expansion tank up with about half a pint yesterday :(

imho your recirculation valve (or whatever the name) is stuck close.. so it keeps the mist inside .. try activating -deactivating ..
if you dont hear the plop sound its stuck and not working..

LOL im taking a shower tonight ;D iv had too much steem latley :'(

9/10 the aircon not working, will cause the dehumidification effect (of it being on regardless of temp setting) is lost. found this on about 8 or 9 cars so far, top up aircon and work a treat.

Still no joy guys,Pulling my hair out now! Here is what im gonna do! 1 Gallon of unleaded & 1 box of swan vesta (BOOM) problem gone!
So sad it is such a lovely car but cant do anything with it.
Cant get rid of steam in cab, cant work it out, drivers side ok passenger side steams like an old train!
carpets not wet, no real water loss, heater gets warm, wont clear screen!
Also tried every were to get radio code, but it appears to be main dealer only!
No wonder Vauxhall dropped the Omega! Such a shame. :-/
