Hi there,
I have a problem. This morning I couldn't start the engine in my omega. All lights are coming up, battery is fine, but when I turn the key to start the engine - nothing is happening like it has something to do with the immobilizer.
I've never had that problem before, so I've disconnectged the battery for few minutes, but it didn't help so I've left the battery disconnected till I get back from work.
I don't know otherwise.
Do you guys have any ideas of what could go wrong?
Thanks in advance

Your immobiliser still allows the engine to turn, just not fire. You say nothing is happening ..... I assume you mean it's not turning over on the starter. :-/

Yes that's what I meant, it's not even turning. I've tried both keys I have.
-
If it's not even turning over it can only be the key switch, starter motor or perhaps the automatic gearbox starter interlock - or a wiring fault.
Try waggling the gear stick, and try starting in both "N" and "P" positions.

Could be its got tiny bit of power to do that, with the bike over winter, i turned the ignition on, display lit up, all check lights normal, but press the button, nothing just a click.
Be worth checking voltage on the battery just to be sure :y
-
I would expect a click, and the dash lights to dim if it was the battery. If nothing at all is happening, it points to my previous diagnosis i.e. signal not getting to the solenoid for some reason. - IMHO.

You're probably right! :o ;) ;) ;)
I'm sure a good set of jump leads would start it. :y

Thank you all for your advices, but now you gonna have to accept my appologies as the reason that I couldn't start the engine was because I left the gear stick on D. It was too early this morning to notice that, coz I never did that b4. Now at 3pm it was the thirst thing I saw... I'm so gutted.
Thanks again :D

No problem, once a valet parker left one of ours halfway in between N and D, took me few mins to spot that one ::)

You shouldn't actually be able to remove the key unless your car is in Park. ;)

Try removing the HU with the gear stick in P. I always take the key out when removing HU and the gear lever needs to be out of the way. Perhaps I have a breaked Ignition barrel as well :-/

I've never looked what actually holds the key in the barrel til you're in Park, but I can if I play about enough get my key out too when in other than Park.
I have the other problem with my Astra, it can be a bugger getting the key out .... & that's a manual ;D
