Title: Spin on Oil filter conversion addage for how 2
Post by: Sir Sideways on 07 March 2010, 19:43:01
Just done the above conversion as on the how 2 in the maintainance guides. This is just a note the admin may want to add.

The housing body was not held on by a 27mm nut, it was a 12mm allen bolt instead.

I ended up sawing the end of a 12mm allen key off to fit in a 12mm socket for extra leverage as it was very tight.

Not mine; it was just as the guide here said, a 27mm hollow bolt (the cap was 24mm though):

I use an angle grinder for stuff like that. Or I would use a cutting tool that I don't have but would really like.

I know what an "adage" is, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adage but what's an "addage" ?
Mind you, I know what an "addition" is.  ::)

(ok, so I'm being a pedantic @rse, but it's STMO's day off !)

That's weird; mine definitely had the 27mm hollow bolt.
Did the 12mm allen key fit inside your hollow bolt, or elsewhere?
