Having my gaskets changed Friday but its been suggested that I should change the covers also as they are known to warp. The aren't cheap so don't want to change them just for the sake of it....views please regarding the odds on them being flubbered...79,000 miles.

Utter 'dangle berries', its dumbass mechanics who tighten them too much, they don't warp.
Genuine gaskets, GM black sealant and 8Nm on the cam cover bolts, with clean breathers and you will be trouble free

Money making scam.
2 omegas, both around 100,000, not a warped cover in sight. If the breathers are cleaned and the cam cover tightened properly .. ie 8 Nm and not a whisker more, there is no problem.
If this was a common problem .. don't you think we all would have changed the covers by now ???

You missed off £96 + vat per side. :o
edit:- I misread that as reasons NOT to change cam covers.

Suspect they are the originals so you have to assume they'll be fine. Will mention the 8nm thing to the guy thats doing them.
Thank you once again.
