Title: Reconnecting Heater Hoses
Post by: Radar on 21 March 2010, 19:34:24
After flushing the heater matrix, i wanted to check i refitted the hoses correctly/safely. The link below: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1185891036 shows the hoses but mine had a green semi circle clip on them also which originally sat right at the back of the bulkhead.
Now i have put the hoses back on as far as they go (before the pipe gets bigger) but the green clips do not push back to the ends as before? What i am doing wrong?

I ran the car for 10 minutes with no leaks but am still intrigued.

Any pointers would be welcome. :y

the green clips are fitted to new hoses and come loose the first time the hose is fitted.
To check you have fitted the connectors properly, try pulling on the hose, if the latch is engaged properly the hose will not move, if it comes off, you didnt push it far enough on to the pipes before engaging the lock ring.

They are locking clips. You need to fit them in the connector BEFORE attaching the hoses back on the matrix stubs. The connectors are a watertight fit without them, but if you have them then why not refit them IMO?  ;D :y

Thanks for the replies. I did get a click when i put them back on and they seem securely in place (fingers crossed!)

the green clip was on before i refitted, it just sits flush with the hose now as opposed to being 2 inches infront of the hose prior to starting the job.
